Client: IBM Corporation
Challenge: As IBM expanded its activities in the field of cultural information technology, Marshad produced a multimedia presentation and documentary film to profile efforts to develop the IBM
Digital Library System.
Solution: Conduct interviews with Father Leonard Boyle, Prefect of the Vatican Library, and Renaissance scholars from Princeton University and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio De Janeiro. Amplify the interviews with original animation showing how the Internet works (at the time it was called the Arpanet, and email was called ProfsNotes); while also demonstrating its use for the global distribution of high resolution images of rare manuscripts in the Vatican Library; long hidden from public view.
Result: This project was pivotal in expanding cultural information processing and digital image distribution.
