Several Themes:

Volunteer at a local help center, i.e., food pantry, soup kitchen, shelter, service agency. |

Start or join a block association. |

Know your neighbors - plan a project to familiarize your neighbors with one another. |

Reach out to victims - organize emergency food/clothing relief/fundraisers, or projects to help out the families of victims. |
5. |
Find out about, and educate your neighbor about the facts on prventing and treating anthrax, bio-terrorism, small pox, etc. |
6. |
Organize anti-bias and tolerance - promoting activities such as interfaith or interethnic dialogues or forums. |
7. |
Get informed locally - construct a local referral network or resource directory of professionals or organizations who can help with counceling or other services. |
8. |
Organize a peace vigil or interfaith prayer service to help the healing process and discourage intolerant behavior. |
9. |
Organize neighborhood art and gardening projects - neighbors can express themselves by painting a mural or planting a tree. |

Hold a local job fair |

Volunteer at your neighborhood school - escort children to and from school, raise money, spruce up the grounds, read to children. |
